Advocate for your own education! Grades are now your responsibility and it is important to understand that grades have a much bigger impact in high school than they did in middle school. Being proactive is key to success.
Communicate with your teacher! It is important that you tell your teacher what you need, do you need to sit in front to see better, hear better? Do you need extra help with a subject? Teachers are your rocks!
Overwhelmed? Ask for help! Counselors, principals, peers, even your upperclassmen are all here to help you. Chances are that high school will be much easier if you ask for help.
Don't be afraid to try new things! Trying out for different sports, clubs, even classes is a big part of high school. Try to think long-term, where is this going to take you career-wise? Even if you end up not liking it, you may discover something else about yourself. Getting involved in school activities is a big plus on college applications and a great way to make new friends
Surround yourself with positive people. Friends will influence you and your decisions so it is vital to surround yourself with those that will support you. Don't be dragged down!
